The BRAMBLES are an interesting group of beings that live in the forest far beyond the road and the pond. So far, three branches of the family—a WIZARD—an ELF—and a WITCH, have been seen. There might be more branches found in the future. They are all very colorful and stand approximately fourteen inches from base to top of hat, broom or twigs. The base is a slice of a redwood tree limb. Their bodies are made in a stump or tube fashion of fabric that has been patch worked with decorative embroidery stitches. All have faces made from polymer clay which are embedded in either marabou feathers or curly mohair wool. No two faces are the same as each is hand formed—no molds are used.
WIZARD has a tall wired hat adorned with feathers and a faceted crystal orb dangling from the top. A wise owl sits on the brim in a bed of eyelash gimp trim. At his side is a bundle of twigs and an owl in a nest. The base is decorated with moss, another owl and a lady bug. His face is wise, knowing and a bit long of the nose. He has a long beard of white curly mohair. (There are only two of the WIZARD available)
ELF also has a tall wired hat. His is adorned with fur and a bell dangling from the top. He has a bundle to twigs as well at his side. This time there are two nests and a red cardinal in each. He has fur trim at the bottom of his body. The base is decorated with a bit of moss, a cardinal and a lady bug, of course. Remember lady bugs bring good luck and keep one safe. His face is cheerful and also a bit long of the nose—although his is upturned! He has a long beard of white curly mohair. (Sorry I do not have any more of the ELF at this time—but I am sure next year!)
WITCH has a brim around her tall wired hat. A tassel dangles from the top point and has ribbons and ball fringe around the base. At her side in an upright broom made from a twig with a plume of raffia. Inside the plume is either a spider, a bat, an owl or a crow. All very important creatures to a witch! She has a jabot of black lace at her neck with a charm sewn in place. Her face is craggy, her mouth is in a smile and a wart on her long nose or pointy chin. Her hair is bright orange marabou feathers. On her base is moss and yes, a lady bug.
